Standard rivet nuts have two open ends and a head with a narrow flange. The open ends allow for the use of long screws and bolts, while the narrow flange prevents pull-through.
Aluminum has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is wear resistant, nonmagnetic and conductive. It is easier to form and machine than steel and is naturally noncorrosive.
Full head types have knurled shanks and thin, flat heads with large flanges. The knurled shank resists spinout in softer materials, while the large flange increases strength and prevents pull-through.
